Winter Clothes
What kind of clothes should I get for the winter? I come from a warm place so I'm not used to wearing winter coats and warm clothes. Do I need special shoes for the snow? Any specific type of parka or coat you can recommend?

Re: Winter Clothes
This is what you'll need if you're staying outside one hour or less in -10°C.
Winter shoes or boots. The most important part is a thick sole to protect you from the cold from the ground. The sole on winter shoes are also often made of real rubber that don't get hard and slippery when it's cold. Boots you'll need when walking in deep snow.
A down winter coat or jacket.
Thick gloves or mittens.
A scarf.
A hat that covers the ears.
Regular trousers will do (not slim-fit), the baggier the warmer.
If you're staying outside for more then an hour you don't want to skip anything above and I also recommend long johns under the trourser, though make sure it never gets tight. If you're outside for several hours or a whole day you may want to change from regular trousers to thicker winter trousers and keep the long johns underneath.
If you don't own any of this stuff you might as well buy it in Luleå. Here the selection might be better than in your home country.

Shopping Trip
Great! We now know what we need- Now where to buy it! I'm sure you've said it numerous times already, but where do we get these things? Also, what brands are good but not too expensive? Can I get a Swedish 'shopping buddy' of sorts to go with me so I get the correct things? I had trouble when I asked to find a bed quilt!

If you want moderate prices I suggest sports stores and H&M. I would start at Stadium and H&M, they are usually the cheapest. There is also Team Sportia and Intersport. If you are looking for better quality I suggest the outdoor store Hägglunds.
