  • Call home ;-)

  • Check the condition of your room. If you find any serious damage or if something is missing please inform your landlord immediately.

  • Pay the rent as soon as possible.

  • Activate your LTU user-ID by logging in to LTU My Pages at www.ltu.se. Activate from home. Internet should be up and running in your room (no login required). There are also two computers at the international office, please ask for help to login. At the university there are two wireless networks “LTU” and “eduroam”. Both require login and that you have activated your LTU user-ID. If you need assistance please visit the IT Service Desk in the Library.

  • Get your LTU-card at The Student Desk in the B-building. During the Arrival week and the Orientation week there are scheduled appointments, see the orientation timetable. Bring your user-ID and photo-ID when you go there. The LTU-card is your keycard for the university. Also used for copying machines. You also need it to enter STUK at night, together with photo-ID.

  • Choose a 4-digit pin code for the LTU-card on LTU My Pages at www.ltu.se. In the upper right corner click on your name to get to the control panel. In the left hand column under your name and "My account" you find a link for the LTU-card. Click there and follow the instructions.

  • Sign up for Swedish for beginners, lists on the LURC notice board in the international office.

  • If you so wish, pay your Student Union Fee, more information in separate folder.

  • Go to one of the Academic Workshop Sessions. Everything you need to know for your studies at LTU. (This information is not the same as the information you get from LURC upon arrival.) If you arrive after any of the scheduled sessions please see your international coordinator.

  • Print your timetable. You do it in TimeEdit (My LTU->Timetables). A How-To is included in the Academic Workshops. There is also iCal available for your smartphone at the bottom of the page.

  • Course registration must be done during the first week of courses, 1 to 5 September, on My LTU.

  • Get a bus card at The Student Desk. Ask for the “Hollo-card” (40% discount) if you are age 20-25 otherwise a regular bus card (20% discount). The actual card is free and then you top it up with the amount you want to travel for when you first get on the bus using a credit card.

  • If you so wish, buy a membership in one of the student unions (more information in the separate folder).

  • Join the Orientation Activities organized by LURC.

  • Buy a ticket for the Welcome Dinner. Information on when and how will be sent out by email and posted on facebook. The Welcome Dinner is the main activity of the orientation week taking place on last Saturday.

  • Go to the International Office Information Meeting.

  • Check the LURC Facebook page and the ‘Luleå Exchange Students group for the current semester for updated information.

  • Check the LURC facebook page for updated information.
